It's more song-oriented, but in a other way, more open than before.

April 04 DOM are going to rehears for a new album...
The group DOM, formed around Swiss drummer Dominik Burkhalter, is laboring in an impressive manner on the interface of jazz, hardcore and ambient. The young quintet plays an explosive mix of contemporary music in a hi-energy live act. The musicians are able to switch easily between spherical soundscapes and brutish rock outbursts, with melodic parts giving a vital contrast to some complex structures. It may even sometimes sound Zappaesque, without losing its focus on the wide expanse of rock and club culture within the field of electronic music.
Originally founded in 1999 as an instrumental quartet, DOM is presenting itself now in a new shape with the addition of charismatic vocalist Bruno Amstad from Lucerne. The relaunch of the band has obviously gone a step further, as the most recent recordings clearly show. But still, most compositions are written by bandleader Burkhalter, while singer Amstad is responsible for all the lyrics. The musicians involved contribute their individual musicianship, which is great throughout. Urban Lienert plays solid basslines, Oliver Keller shows an outstanding guitar technique and Hans-Peter Pfammatter uses a variety of carefully chosen stylish sounds.
DOM have found their very individual band sonic by composing a soundmix that has never been heard before. The result is a particulary colourful and intense music, that catches the ear of the listener immediately, without allowing the slightest chance to escape.
